Giving Rural Residents a Stronger Voice
 

• I worked hard to ensure residents had more opportunities to have their voices heard.

• I brought back the Rural Summit for the first time in 16 years. At amalgamation, residents were promised a Rural Summit every term of Council, and I am proud to have restored that commitment.

• I held town hall meetings in Constance Bay and Carp to hear directly from residents in our two most populated villages. City staff from across departments attended to listen, answer questions, and help address local concerns. My office also released reports outlining follow-up actions.

• I went door to door in neighbourhoods across West Carleton-March throughout the term to proactively check in with residents.

• I held regular open office hours, allowing residents and stakeholders to meet with me without an appointment.

• I hosted in-person budget consultations each year to gather local input before budget decisions were made.

• I used surveys to collect feedback on key issues and help inform my decisions at City Hall.
   

        Delivering a More Open City and Local Government
 

• I consistently fought for greater transparency and accountability within the City of Ottawa bureaucracy.

• I brought forward and passed a motion to restore the public-facing City of Ottawa Staff Directory after it had been removed during the previous term of Council. The motion also directed staff to create a public-facing organizational chart so residents can better understand who is responsible for what and how to contact them.

• I brought forward and passed a motion establishing response timelines for City staff when responding to councillors' offices, helping elected officials obtain information for residents more quickly.

• I brought forward and passed a motion to re-establish public reporting on rural ambulance response times, which had not been reported since 2013.

• I regularly challenged the use of delegated authority to help ensure important decisions are made by elected representatives rather than unelected officials.
   

        Advocating for Safer Communities
 

• I remained focused on the priorities identified by residents during the 2022 election.

• I advocated at the highest levels for additional police resources in our community, including multiple ward tours and visits with the Chief of Police to key locations and neighbourhoods.

• I supported the Ottawa Police Service's return to a district policing model, increasing police presence and resources available to Ward 5.

• I supported the largest increase in the Ottawa Police Service budget in more than a decade.

• I consistently advocated for additional ambulance and paramedic resources for Ward 5 through regular discussions with the General Manager of Emergency and Protective Services and the Chief Paramedic.

• I brought forward and passed a motion to restore reporting on rural ambulance response times.

• I supported increased funding and hiring for paramedic services. As a result, Level Zero events, when no ambulances are available, have declined by more than 80 percent since the beginning of this term of Council.

• Ambulances are now regularly stationed within Ward 5.

• I secured a seasonal proactive by-law enforcement presence in areas identified as concerns by residents.
  
  Delivering Better Local Services
   

• I helped achieve meaningful improvements to ditching and drainage by supporting the doubling of the ditching budget, hiring a dedicated rural ditching and drainage coordinator, leading site visits with residents and staff, and following up to ensure progress was made.

• I consistently advocated for increased road funding during annual budget discussions to improve road conditions and reduce long-term maintenance costs.

• I supported the largest roads budget in the city's history, helping ensure Ward 5 receives funding proportional to its road network. Ward 5 contains approximately 11 percent of the city's lane kilometres and now receives approximately 11 percent of the roads budget.
